While the book has all but closed on the Russell Wilson era with the Denver Broncos, there still remains a few final touches on his eventual exit from the orange and blue. Most signs are pointing towards the inevitable release involving the 9x Pro Bowler happening in the coming weeks, but the slim opportunity of a trade going down is still present while Denver holds his rights.

However, that doesn't mean you can hold your breath on the Broncos being able to find any value in return for Russ. According to a tweet from NFL Network's James Palmer, the Broncos have yet to be contacted on a potential trade involving Wilson, leaving any chance of a trade going down slim to none.

It's no secret around the league that the plan is for Denver to cut the former Super Bowl-winning quarterback, so it's difficult to see any team be willing to give up any assets in return to trade for him. While a deal still technically remains possible on Wilson, considering he remains under contractual control, it seems unlikely considering the circumstances.

Any team that was to acquire his services via trade would be looped into his massive $242 million contract with substantial guarantees attached. Instead, any opposing team that's interested in bringing him into the building can play the waiting game for the Broncos to eventually cut ties with him.

Earlier reports detail Wilson would likely sign to a minimum deal after his inevitable departure with the Broncos, so rather than a team opting to take on the financial burden, it's much more likely to see someone take a flier on him in free agency once he hits the open market.

Wilson finished his second season with the Broncos posting 3,070 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and eight interceptions, finalizing with a 7-8 record while under center. The general assumption around the league is that he still has what it takes to be a starting quarterback, but where that may be remains a mystery.

As the NFL offseason moves forward, the long-awaited answers are soon to be found on what will happen to the future of Russell Wilson's recently turbulent career.
