With both defensive ends Alex Wright and Isaiah Thomas dealing with injuries after the Browns preseason opener, the team announced that they have signed DE Charles Wiley.

To make room on the roster the Browns released wide receiver Ra'Shaun Henry. Both Wright and Thomas sat out of practice on Sunday as the Browns are waiting to find out the full extent of their injuries today.

It was evident the team was looking for depth at defensive end yesterday after it was reported that the Browns had worked out both Wiley and former Packer defensive end Jonathan Garvin.

Wiley (6' 2", 251 lbs) is in his second season and has spent time on the practice squad for both the Giants and Ravens. In addition to Wright and Thomas, Wiley will join an edge room led by Myles Garrett, Za'Darius Smith, Ogbo Okoronkwo and Sam Kamara. He may also be able to contribute on special teams for Bubba Ventrone.

Wiley has yet to play in an NFL game but played in college at UTSA where he was an Honorable mention All-Conference USA selection after starting all 14 games at outside linebacker during his senior year. He recorded 36 total tackles, 18 solo stops, nine tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, five quarterback hurries, two fumble recoveries and one pass breakup.

After going undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft, Ra'Shaun Henry originally signed with the Carolina Panthers. He spent time on the practice squads of both the Panthers and the Atlanta Falcons in his rookie season, but has yet to make his NFL debut.
