Maurice Hurst Has Comical Reaction To Browns Not Being Chosen For Brazil Game

The NFL officially announced that the Packers would be heading to South America in Week 1, instead of the Browns.

Maurice Hurst is officially off the hook.

After accidentally suggesting that the Browns were going to be the team heading to Brazil for a Week 1 showdown with the Eagles in an interview with Browns Daily, the NFL wound up selecting the Packers for the first ever international matchup.

That didn't stop Hurst from having a laugh at his own expense after many people thought he had prematurely spilled the beans on some top secret league information last month.

Hurst was quick to walk back his comments via social media after the clip from Browns Daily went viral, letting everyone know he had no confirmation Cleveland would be playing in Brazil. That didn't stop fans from speculating away though.

To be fair, the franchise had expressed a desire to participate in the first of it's kind international game. In the end, Hurst really was just innocently answering a question about where he'd like to vacation with his fell defensive line mates.

Hurst has had a busy offseason coming to terms on a one-year deal to return to Cleveland next season prior to the start of the new league year. He is one of several key members from the Browns dominant defensive front set to return as free agents, along with Shelby Harris and Za'Darius Smith.

Hurst is also still working his way back from a torn pectoral muscle that derailed his 2023 campaign in Week 14. Prior to the injury, Hurst tallied 22 tackles, 1.5 sacks, three pass breakups and four tackles for a loss.

The 28-year-old has been on schedule with his recovery and should be ready to go when the team's offseason program begins next week.
