The Cleveland Browns announced a pair of moves Tuesday. First, the team announced the signing of Eli Ankou, a defensive tackle from the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad. Since the trade of Austin Corbett to the Los Angeles Rams last week, the team hadn't made a corresponding move to balance out their roster.

The second announcement the team made was the signing of safety Montreal Meander to the team's practice squad and the release of running back Elijah McGuire from the practice squad. Meander has been on the Browns roster in various forms since he entered the league as an undrafted free agent.

The move to acquire Ankou, a 6'3" 325lb nose tackle in his third season out of UCLA, suggests the Browns are not certain of the status of Daniel Ekuale, who suffered a concussion in the loss to the Seattle Seahawks. In signing Ankou, the Browns must keep him on the roster for three weeks. It's unclear if that three week time frame is relevant to Ekuale's condition or not. Ankou has appeared in 11 games as a member of the Jaguars.

The Browns are preparing to take on the New England Patriots Sunday in Foxboro, coming out of their bye week.
