The Cleveland Browns have signed former Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey to their practice squad, moved wide receiver Derrick Willies to the injury list. Willies seemed like he was a safe bet to make the active roster, the team likes him, but this is the second year in a row where he looked promising only to suffer a major setback in the form of an injury. Last year, he broke his collarbone the Friday walkthrough after he had a couple key receptions in the Browns victory over the Baltimore Ravens. Now, it's his ACL.

Dungey originally signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent. He is a dual threat quarterback with good size for the position at 6'2 3/4" 226 pounds. His athleticism isn't particularly impressive, but he's not a statue either and when plays break down, that can look faster.

He was a reasonably solid passer at Syracuse, but he's definitely a developmental prospect. Dungey has some interesting tools, so if he can show enough to stick around, he might be worth a longer look. He's bigger and more athletic than was David Blough, traded to the Detroit Lions, while Blough was more efficient as a passer.
