Cardinals Draft Michael Wilson, Trade Out to Finish Day 2

The Arizona Cardinals put a bow on their Day 2 efforts by drafting Stanford WR Michael Wilson and trading out of their final pick in the third round.

TEMPE -- A fairly long day for the Arizona Cardinals can now come to a conclusion.

Festivities for the team kicked off earlier in the afternoon with the introduction of first-round pick Paris Johnson Jr. today at the team's facility here in Tempe. Just a few hours later, everybody packed the war room to eventually add talents such as edge rusher BJ Ojulari and cornerback Garrett Williams with their first of four picks on Day 2.

With picks 94 and 96 - both towards the end of the third round - Arizona continued adding to their roster with the selection of Stanford WR Michael Wilson (94) before trading Pick 96 for Picks 122, 139 and 168 (one fourth and two fifth-round picks).

Wilson's NFL.com scouting profile:

"Energetic wideout who plays the game with excellent urgency and effort. Wilson plays to his top speed at all times, but he needs to become a more efficient route runner to beat NFL coverage. The ball skills are a little below average, but he’s a cantankerous run blocker and has the potential to become a very good gunner on special teams. Staying healthy will be priority No. 1 for Wilson, but his versatility and competitive nature should give him a chance to become a plus NFL backup with upside."

Before the trade, the Cardinals weren't scheduled to have a pick in either the fourth or fifth round.
