Former Cardinals QB Throwing First Pitch on Opening Day

Kurt Warner will be at Chase Field beginning festivities tonight.

ARIZONA -- The Arizona Diamondbacks are set to begin the 2024 MLB season tonight, and a familiar face will begin festivities on the mound for one of baseball's best teams last season.

Arizona Cardinals QB Kurt Warner will be throwing out the first pitch, according to 12 News' Cameron Cox, who also proposed an important question in his tweet/post:

Warner - an Arizona sports legend despite spending a limited amount of time in the state - led the Cardinals to Super Bowl XLIII and played with the organization for five seasons. He's a member of the team's Ring of Honor after leading one of the greatest teams in franchise history.

As for his broad NFL career, Warner is a Super Bowl champion with the St. Louis Rams while also taking home MVP honors for the big game. He's twice a league MVP and also has a Walter Payton Man of the Year honor to boast, which was won with Arizona.

Warner made four Pro Bowls with with two first-team All-Pro nods. Sports Illustrated recently named him the Cardinals' best free agent signing in franchise history.

The Diamondbacks begin their season tonight against the Colorado Rockies at 7:10 PM local time at Chase Field. Arizona looks to repeat as National League champs in hopes of making a second consecutive run to the World Series.
