Cardinals Signing Potential Starting OL

The Arizona Cardinals are signing a division rival OL who started all of last season.

ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals are reportedly adding another piece to their offensive line.

From NFL Media's Tom Pelissero on Twitter/X:

"Veteran center Evan Brown is signing with the #Cardinals on a one-year, $2.35 million deal, per source. Max value $2.9M with incentives. Brown has 40 career starts, including 16 last season with Seattle. Now he heads to an NFC West rival."

Brown - who turns 28 in September - entered the league as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2018 with the New York Giants. He's previously spent time with the Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions and most recently the Seattle Seahawks in 2023.

Brown has started at least 12 games in each of the last three seasons, which includes positions such as guard and center. He started at 12 games in 2021 (at center) and 2022 (at right guard) respectively for Detroit before returning to center for Seattle last season, per Pro Football Reference.

While Arizona's right side of the line seems solidified in Paris Johnson Jr. (who could be moved to the left in favor of new signing Jonah Williams) and Will Hernandez, the center position could also be considered in the same boat with Hjalte Froholdt holding down starting duties last year.

Rookie Jon Gaines should be healthy for his sophomore campaign after spending all of 2023 on injured reserve.

The Cardinals re-signed Trystan Colon and Elijah Wilkinson this offseason, both of whom had starts at left guard.
