Steelers Releasing Former Cardinals CB

The Pittsburgh Steelers are waving goodbye to former Arizona Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson.

ARIZONA -- Former Arizona Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson will be looking for a new team as of Friday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are releasing Peterson according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

The news comes after Peterson completed his 13th season in the NFL. He was in Pittsburgh for one year. He was set to be under contract with the Steelers through 2024 after signing a two-year, $14 million deal with Pittsburgh.

The Steelers save $6.8 million against the cap with the move.

Prior to playing in the Steel City, Peterson spent two years with the Minnesota Vikings.

Cardinals fans remember him for the decade he spent in the desert, which included eight Pro Bowls, three All-Pro nods and being selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame's All-2010's Decade Team.

Having played in over 200 games, he's netted over 36 interceptions.

Set to turn 34-years-old soon, it's unclear what path one of the former top corners in the league will take.

As for Arizona, the Cardinals need corner help and are likely to address that in either free agency or the 2024 NFL Draft. Arizona has over $50 million in cap space to play with while holding six picks in the first three rounds of the draft.
