What Broncos, Cardinals Draft Trade Could Look Like

Former NFL GM Rick Spielman lays out a potential deal between the Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos.

ARIZONA -- The 2024 NFL Draft is nearly here, and Arizona Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort figures to be a busy man once festivities begin.

The Cardinals - currently sitting at No. 4 - are anticipated to at least entertain trading down as quarterback-needy teams may look to jump into the top five to hopefully select their next franchise passer.

There's a handful of teams looking to make the jump - but what would it cost for Ossenfort and co. to plunge down the draft board?

For The 33rd Team, former NFL GM Rick Spielman played the Cardinals while NFL personality/voice Charles Davis acted as Denver Broncos GM George Paton to facilitate a hypothetical deal:

Charles Davis: I'm coming for it. Obviously you're getting my one - what else are you taking from me right then and there?

Rick Spielman: Oh my god. Well you don't have many draft picks. You don't have a second - you gave up the second rounder for Sean Payton.

Davis: I can't trade my coach, I just signed him last year! I can't trade my coach, you got a coach.

Spielman: Well for this one here bud, it's going to be: we would flop firsts, I would want your third, which you do have a third number at No. 75. And then I would want a first next year. It's all the same area. Listen, I got better deals on the table from Las Vegas. I got a better deal from Minnesota. So Denver - If you're George Paton - let me know what your best offer is because I'm sitting in the catbird seat here. I am going to take what's best for our football team. What's the best offer? And don't tell me you're not willing to give up first-round picks because you gave up a first-round pick last year and a second round pick this year for your head coach Sean Payton. And I don't even want to get into the Russell Wilson talk.

Davis: Here's the best part: because of all that, because we had the rough season, because we know our coach is going to be around for a while, I'm definitely buying you dinner tonight. We're putting the finishing polish on this deal, because I gotta get back into the game man. I got to start chasing down Kansas City. I got to deal with the Raiders now who are under new management. I've got to get into this ballgame and fight it out. And by the way, have we seen what the Houston Texans have done? If I want to get into the game, it's not just my division. I want to get into the game with everybody else. So let's go to dinner because I think George Paton is feeling like tonight could be a big night. Let's take another big swing.

The proposed deal ended up being:

Broncos Receive: No. 4
Cardinals Receive: No. 12, No. 75, 2025 First
