Former Second-Round RB Visiting Chargers Today

The Los Angeles Chargers are continuing to look at different avenues to improve their overall roster. One area that they need help in is the running back position after Austin Ekeler left in free agency.

The team did sign back Gus Edwards to a contract, but the Bolts would love to have another back to pair with him. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, it could come with another former Baltimore Ravens running back. Free agent J.K. Dobbins is scheduled to visit with the team later on today, potentially to sign with Los Angeles.

Dobbins is coming off a torn Achilles, but he has been showing great traction in his recovery. He is very familiar with offensive coordinator Greg Roman from their time together in Baltimore, which could ease some of the learning curves in a new system.

Los Angeles looks to be trying to emulate what Baltimore did when Roman was in charge of their offense. It worked out very well for the Ravens, helping them become a dominant offensive team.

He has dealt with a few injuries so far in his career, but Dobbins can be an effective weapon in this league. During his rookie season, he posted 805 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 134 carries.

It remains to be seen if Dobbins will sign with the Bolts, but with the familiarity, there is a good chance. He could be a nice addition to this offense, giving the Chargers a strong running back room for next season.
