Chargers Lose Key Free Agent to NFC North Squad

LA loses their pass catcher to this NFC North squad.

The Los Angeles Chargers have lost their veteran pass catcher, tight end Gerald Everett.

Everett has agreed to terms to join the Chicago Bears. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler was among the first to report.

The deal is worth two years, with a $12 million base value and a maximum value of up to $14 million. It also includes $6.1 million fully guaranteed. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported via X.

The 29-year-old spent two years as a Bolt and six years total in Los Angeles. He was a member of the Los Angeles Rams prior to joining the Chargers in 2022.

In two years as a Bolt, he recorded 109 receptions for 966 yards, averaged 8.9 yards per reception, and had seven touchdowns in 31 games and 23 starts.

The former second-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft signed a similar deal with the Bolts in 2022.

The Chargers have already added one tight end this offseason in Will Dissly.

It remains to be seen if they look to add another via free agency, or possibly through the draft — maybe someone like Georgia tight end Brock Bowers with their fifth overall pick.
