Chargers News: Bolts Could Make Play For Former Jim Harbaugh Players' Son in Draft

The Chargers could draft a player that has deep ties to Jim Harbaugh.

The Los Angeles Chargers were in attendance at the NFL Combine to view talent that they may be targeting with their seven picks when the NFL Draft begins. While the consensus seems to be they take an offensive weapon like TE Brock Bowers with pick #5, there are plenty of other needs the team must address.

One of those needs is the running back room, which may be hit if Austin Ekeler decides to move to another team. Isaiah Spiller and Joshua Kelley are viable options, but both may not be the three-down types of back that the team needs.

The good news is the NFL Draft is chock full of RB options the Chargers can explore, with one having big ties to Jim Harbaugh.

Legendary running back Frank Gore, who spent plenty of time with Harbaugh and the 49ers has a son who possesses the same type of skill. Frank Gore Jr. is expected to be drafted, and the Chargers might be in the market for his services.

PFF compiled a list of players that would fit the needs of each team, and they pegged the Chargers as a landing spot for Gore Jr.

"Another name to watch could be Southern Mississippi’s Frank Gore Jr., whose father was coached by Harbaugh when they were both in San Francisco."

We could see Gore Jr. landing with the Chargers based on their need at RB, and his father having played for Harbaugh. Harbaugh wants a physical and tough team, and Gore Sr. was as tough as they come.

If his son is anything like his father, he will be a hugely physical three-down back. This could be a match made in heaven, as they say.
