Daniel Popper of The Athletic has drawn up a list of all known candidates LA has requested to interview, featuring 13 head coaches and ten potential general managers.
As of now, the Chargers have interviewed nine head coaches and six general managers, with a few candidates yet to face the interviewing panel.
Among the potential head coaches yet to be interviewed are Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn. Both are still actively involved in the playoffs, contributing to the delay in scheduling their interviews.
The Chargers are also set to interview Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris and Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, aiming to explore all available options.
Regarding general manager candidates, the Chargers have interviewed former 49ers assistant GM Adam Peters, who has since taken on the role of GM for the Washington Commanders. The interviewing process is still pending for Saints assistant GM Jeff Ireland, Bears co-director of player personnel Jeff King, and Cowboys VP of player personnel Will McClay.
As the Chargers navigate through the interviews, one name stands out as the favorite for the head coaching position – Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh. While he is seen as the ideal candidate, the Chargers are keeping their options open and considering other highly qualified individuals.
The decision-making process remains fluid, and it's yet to be determined whether the head coaching or general manager position will be filled first. The coming weeks hold the promise of significant announcements, and Chargers fans can anticipate an exciting period of change and new beginnings for their team.
