Chargers News: NFL Writer Predicts This LA Star To Make First Pro Bowl

This LA veteran is predicted to make their first Pro Bowl in 2023

The Chargers are a team full of stars, Justin Herbert and Keenan Allen for offense and Khalil Mack, Joey Bosa, and Derwin James on defense.

These great players are recognized and own the hardware to back it up, splitting multiple All-Pros, Pro Bowls, and yearly awards.

One star who hasn't received his shine might just be primed for a fantastic 2023.

Kevin Patra predicts that Austin Ekeler will make his first-ever Pro Bowl in NFL.com's Pro Bowl predictions article.

"Can we get this man to the Pro Bowl already? For years, the do-it-all dual threat has been buried behind "more traditional" backs. Ekeler represents the modern NFL, where running backs are asked to be more than just ball-carriers. And he thrives. Ekeler has led the NFL in scrimmage TDs in the last two seasons with 20 in 2021 (tied with Jonathan Taylor) and 18 in 2022."

While it may be surprising to hear that Ekeler has yet to receive a Pro Bowl nod, it makes a little more sense when you see that he somewhat lacks in the conventional running back stats.

Ekeler has never rushed for 1,000 yards, coming up about 90 yards short the last two seasons. This statistic matters to football fans, so Ekeler's dual-threat ability may hurt him in the voting category.

But Ekeler should be ready to contribute and once again put up big numbers behind an offensive line that sees the return of Rashawn Slater.

Pro Bowls don't mean everything, but for Ekeler, it might be a good reward to help back up the amazing seasons he consistently puts together.
