Chargers News: Projecting How New Coach Will Fair Under Jim Harbaugh

The Bolts' coaching staff is coming together.

As the Bolts' new coaching staff continues to be rounded out, they've hired former Seahawks defensive quality control coach Will Tukuafu as their assistant defensive line coach.

Tukuafu played for Jim Harbaugh as a member of the 49ers, as well as Pete Carroll as a member of the Seahawks.

Having experience alongside Harbaugh, he's familiar with the system and should be able to contribute immediately.

As assistant defensive line coach, he'll join head defensive line coach Mike Elston on that front, working to improve what was one of the worst lines in the league over the past few seasons under Brandon Staley.

Working in Seattle under defensive mind Pete Carroll, Tukuafu gained experience coaching a young, inexperienced defense with a few stars that slowly began to break out.

The Bolts' defense should look similar, as the majority of their aging pieces aren't expected to return, and pairing that with their draft capital this season and existing young talent, Tukafu will have his work cut out for him as he attempts to transform the Chargers defense.

With a couple of assistant and quality control roles still available, expect more moves in the coming weeks as the Bolts put together their completely final staff heading into year one of the Harbaugh era.
