Former Chargers GM Tom Telesco Interviewing With AFC West Rival

Does he deserve a second chance?

Former Los Angeles Lakers general manager Tom Telesco, who was recently dismissed along with head coach Brandon Staley, has resurfaced as a potential GM candidate for the AFC West division rival Las Vegas Raiders, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network

Telesco would be a surprising potential hire for Vegas, as his tenure in Los Angeles received mixed reviews, as he regularly hired bad coaches, spent money on the wrong players, and the team had just 2 playoff wins in a 10-year span, despite elite, Pro Bowl-level quarterback talent in Philip Rivers and Justin Herbert.

That said, Telesco did often cobble together some decent Los Angeles rosters, and was able to get solid draft value from players like Keenan Allen, so the potential is certainly there.

The Bolts and the Raiders are two of the few teams this offseason that are engaging in an active general manager search, causing great overlap of potential candidates.

For example, a Buffalo Bills assistant GM is slated to be interviewed by both clubs, opening the door to a potential bidding war that the Bolts, financially speaking, will likely lose given their history of spending money the way they have.
