New Chargers TE Announces Jersey Number For 2024

L.A.'s newest offensive target will don a new jersey number.

Los Angeles Chargers' newest offensive addition, tight end Hayden Hurst, will don a new jersey number this upcoming season.

Hurst announced via his Instagram he will wear jersey number 88 for the Bolts.

The last Charger to wear number 88 was tight end Virgil Green.

Hurst signed with Los Angeles on Friday, only two days after being released by the Carolina Panthers. He initially signed a three-year contract with the Panthers last offseason but was released after only one season.

As a Panther, he wore the number 81. The only other time he wore number 88 was when he was a member of the Cincinnati Bengals in 2022.

The former first-round pick in 2018 will join his fifth team in seven seasons. In his career, he's recorded 195 receptions for 1902 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. His best season came in 2020 with the Atlanta Falcons, when he had a season-high 571 receiving yards and 56 catches on 88 targets.

Hurst will provide some depth to the tight end room and fight for the top tight end spot.
