The Los Angeles Chargers will have a new weapon at the tight end position to work with. They have agreed to a deal with former Carolina Panthers tight end Hayden Hurst.

The veteran tight end only appeared in nine games with Carolina last season after agreeing to a three-year deal worth $21.75 million deal last March. He put up 18 catches with 184 yards and one score.

Hurst has bounced around the league a bit over the last few years but had a very productive season in 2022 with the Cincinnati Bengals. With the Bengals, Hurst put up 52 catches for 414 yards and two touchdowns.

He now gives quarterback Justin Herbert another offensive tool to work with. The Bolts lost former tight end Gerald Everett, so Hurst figures to give them some depth going forward.

The team also signed tight end Will Dissly to a deal, so they figure to have a multiple tight-end set this season. Under new head coach Jim Harbaugh, the Bolts are expected to spread out the offense, while using tight ends to scheme for the run.

Hurst is a good depth signing for the Bolts and one that could pay off very nicely if he can fit into the system.
