The Indianapolis Colts have selected Kansas State cornerback JuJu Brents in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, with the 44th overall pick. This came after trading down twice, originally from pick No. 35.

Brents (6"2, 198, 23 years old) comes from Indianapolis and Warren Central High School. He's got terrific size/length for the cornerback position and has elite athleticism.

The Colts badly needed to address the cornerback position after trading away starter Stephon Gilmore and allowing Brandon Facyson to leave in free agency. Brents will likely compete for a starting spot as a rookie.

According to the Indy Draft Guide, here is how Brents fits with the Colts:

Brents has raised his stocks this draft cycle maybe more than any prospect. Early on was getting mid day 3 projections and as of late is projected to hear his name on day 2 of the NFL Draft. Brents’ size at 6’3 198 jumps paired with his arm length at 34’’ will for good reason excite teams, but his play speed not falling off because of it is what pops on screen. Brents’ would be best suited in a heavy zone scheme at the next level which when paired with his size makes him a strong match with the Colts. And on top of it all is an Indiana native himself who graduated from Warren Central High School.
