Former Colts' WR Isaiah McKenzie Signs With New York Giants

After a sour ending to his tenure with the Indianapolis Colts, Isaiah McKenzie is heading to the NFC East.

Isaiah McKenzie, who spent one season with the Indianapolis Colts, has agreed to terms on a contract with the New York Giants, according to his agents at SportsTrust Advisors.

McKenzie was signed just a season ago by the Colts, where he recorded just 11 receptions for 82 yards and 0 touchdowns. He started two games and appeared in 13 before he was a healthy scratch for a matter the Colts chose to handle in-house

The plan this past season was for the Colts to use McKenzie in a gadget role and possibly in the slot, but the emergence of rookie Josh Downs never really allowed that to happen. Over time, he started to see his role and snaps diminished before eventually he was only contributing on special teams.

McKenzie looks to rejuvenate his career by reuniting with someone who knows him really well, and that’s Giants' head coach Brian Daboll. McKenzie played some of his best ball under Daboll in Buffalo and showed real promise early in his career.

The Colts must now find a WR4 or potential special teams player to fill that role. The Colts may look in-house to fill it as they have a guy they love in Ashton Dulin returning from a season-ending ACL injury. Chris Ballard spoke highly of Dulin during his season-ending presser and expects him to make a return by the time training camp opens. Dulin is a versatile player that not only is outstanding on special teams but can also rotate in as a wide receiver in a pinch.

Expect the Colts to continue looking for wide receiver help throughout the offseason.
