NFL Free Agency: Commanders' Jacoby Brissett Among Best QBs?

Washington Commanders quarterback Jacoby Brissett is among the league's best free agents at the position.

The Washington Commanders say they have a clear picture of what they want their team to look like beginning in 2024 and will take that image into their decision-making processes this offseason.

Among the first decisions the new Commanders leadership will have to make involves the futures of current players with expiring contracts, including backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett, who was listed as the third-best free agent at the position by The 33rd Team.

Washington put Brissett on the field a few times during the season, and in two of those relief appearances, he impressed.

So much so that many onlookers only grew more and more frustrated that the team didn't put him out there sooner.

Even though the general public was clamoring for more of the veteran, he stood behind Sam Howell and supported his younger teammate through it all.

He showed leadership, veteran savvy, and most of all ability. And that puts him only behind 2023 starting quarterbacks Kirk Cousins (Minnesota Vikings) and Baker Mayfield (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) in this year's free agent class.

Brissett would provide a veteran presence for whichever young quarterback the Commanders were to bring in, and that's always a positive.

However, the question remains whether Brissett would even wish to return to Washington with a new coaching staff. Perhaps he may look towards a new path that could give him a better opportunity to see the field.
