News: Could the Redskins add a new coach and Cam Newton in 2020?
All hail the victors; the Washington Redskins have won an NFL football game in 2019. The Redskins knocked off the Miami Dolphins Sunday and improved their record to 1-5. The Redskins running game strategy was boosted by interim head coach Bill Callahan, allowing Adrian Peterson looked refreshed and possessed on his way to his 55th career 100 yard rushing game. The Redskins will look to build on the strong rushing performance as they move forward.
While they flexed their run-muscle on Sunday, the quarterback situation still looks iffy, this time around it was Case Keenum at the wheel. It appears to be Keenum's job as long as he's healthy, even if his stock was down in Week 6. If the Redskins don't believe Dwayne Haskins is ready by the offseason, they could look to acquire former No. 1 overall pick Cam Newton, who many industry insiders believe may be available via trade thanks to the emergence of Kyle Allen. Newton would surely be a better bridge to Haskins than what they're currently working with, the question is the cost.

First Star: CB Quinton Dunbar
Dunbar continues to shine in the back end of the Redskins defense. Gathering in yet another interception, Dunbar is on a near-pro bowl tract in 2019.
Dunbar's performance was so impressive that his 93.4 overall grade was the highest among any secondary players to take the field on Sunday.
Second Star: WR Terry McLaurin
While McLaurin only had four catches, he made them count. The rookie added two more touchdowns to his yearly total and had yet another 100 yard game.

Adm Schefter reports that the Redskins won't be making any more changes to their coaching staff in-season, with an eye on maintaining consistency as they ride out what looks to be an already doomed season. The Redskins squeaked one out against the lowly Dolphins, but there's not a-whole-lot of hope around town that they'll be able to turn 2019 around.
"Washington intends to be patient, let the season play out and then move its head-coaching search into overdrive when the rest of the league's teams making head-coaching changes do the same."

Okay, so they were playing the Dolphins, but the Redskins defense looked strong on Sunday, only yielding after Ryan "Fitzmagic" Fitzpatrick came in the game. The secondary and defensive line, who had four sacks in just the first quarter were particularly strong.
Case Keenum saw his stock drop, throwing for only 166 yards and having his own audible called off by his running back, albeit a likely future Hall of Fame running back, Adrian Peterson. Peterson's stock, needless to say, was up.

Former NFL linebacker turned commentator Willie McGinnest and current NFL coach Todd Bowles both agree that Newton is a dead man walking in Carolina, with Kyle Allen having taken over as the team's primary quarterback. If Newton is indeed done with the Panthers, the Redskins could be one of several teams interested, with Bleacher Report suggesting the suitor count to hit the double digits. If the Redskins don't think Dwayne Haskins is ready, Newton would provide an upgrade as the bridge-QB.

The common belief among Redskins faithful is that Bruce Allen is holding the team back, and moreover that he has been holding them back for years. On Sunday, at least one such believer spent money to make sure everyone heard their opinion, "Fire Bruce Allen."
Adrian Peterson rejuvenates Redskins' run game, but challenges await :: ESPN
The Redskins rolled over the Miami Dolphins in Peterson's 55th career 100 yard game. The task won't be quite so easy the next few weeks. Following the lowly competition from Miami, the Redskins are next tasked with taking on the vaunted 49ers run defense. They'll look to build on what they've started.
"We got to get better as we go on," Redskins left guard Ereck Flowers said. "We're going to play some good defenses. You want to be able to do this on good defenses."
"We want to bring physicality," Flowers said. "That's pretty much the mindset, putting your head down and just working ... It was great; everyone enjoys it. This was a positive step."

The Redskins got their first win of the season, and with it some hope. They were able to get their run game going under offensive line guru Bill Callahan, with an eye on maintaining that run-first mindset going forward. Running, or at least the treat of running opens up the passing game, and this week the Redskins were able to take advantage.
With Peterson running the ball so well, that opened the door for the Redskins' passing offense. and Case Keenum took advantage of that with two touchdowns to Terry McLaurin, including the 33-yarder that you can see below.
