Washington Commanders Force 2 First-Half Turnovers, But Offense Fails to Capitalize vs. Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams are shutting out the Washington Commanders in the first half.

The Washington Commanders are struggling to find points as they head into halftime against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday afternoon inside SoFi Stadium. The Commanders trail 13-0 after the end of the first half.

After going three-and-out on their first possession, the Commanders had a long 13-play drive that pushed them inside the red zone. However, on 4th down with just a yard to go, Sam Howell threw a pass that was batted down by Rams linebacker Nick Hampton.

The Commanders were able to get a stop on the ensuing possession after second-year defensive back Percy Butler was able to force a fumble out of Rams running back Kyren Williams that was recovered by veteran cornerback Kendall Fuller.

However, after the Commanders forced the turnover, they were unable to capitalize with a score. The Rams rallied for a touchdown on their next possession ... a 1-yard run by Williams to go up 10-0.

Williams fumbled the ball for a second time inside the two minute warning, giving the Commanders one more shot to put points on the board. However, Howell and the offense went three-and-out to go into the second half. On the punt, long snapper Camaron Cheeseman botched the snap to punter Tress Way, which kept the ball in Washington territory.

The short field was able to get the Rams in position to kick a 26-yard field goal as time expired.

The Rams will recover the second half kickoff when the two teams return from the locker rooms.
