Chiefs Exes Kareem Hunt, Eric Bieniemy Reunion With Commanders?

Running back Kareem Hunt is now a free agent. Could the Commanders look to reunite Hunt with his former offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy?

The Washington Commanders running back room is led by Brian Robinson Jr., with backup Antonio Gibson and draftee Chris Rodriguez Jr. also joining.

Could there be a free agent out there that could bring some added juice to Washington?

The Bleacher Report has listed free agent running back Kareem Hunt as a possible candidate to link up with his former offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

"Eric Bieniemy was the running backs coach for the Chiefs then. He took over as offensive coordinator in 2018 when Hunt racked up 1,202 scrimmage yards and 14 touchdowns in 11 games," Bleacher Report writes. "Now that Bieniemy is running the offense in Washington, it might be time for a reunion."

Having been with the Cleveland Browns for the last four seasons and seen his production decline due to Nick Chubb's emergence as a dominating force, the Browns have decided not to bring back Hunt.

Which, of course, paves the way for a possible reunion with Bieniemy.

The new Commander's offensive coordinator got the best out of Hunt in Kansas City and he could make the free agent running back a viable contributor in Washington should he join.

With Sam Howell still learning the ropes as an NFL starter, having a good running game to lean on would help the former South Carolina quarterback adjust.

As a rotational running back room, Robinson Jr, Gibson, and Hunt would give the Commanders a run game that could prove tough to stop.

In an offseason where the Commanders have hit all the right notes, there may be one final signing to consolidate their good work in the form of Hunt.
