Do Commanders Fans 'Deserve' Super Bowl Run?

With all that the Washington Commanders fan base has been put through you'd think they'd get some sympathy, but you'd be wrong.

They say problems roll downhill and if that's true the Washington Commanders fan base has had a lot of them rain down from the top of Dan and Tanya Snyder's broken throne.

Has the stink of the Snyder era permeated the franchise and all who associate themselves with the Commanders so much that national media no longer even pities the fans who have done nothing but cry out for change?

Perhaps it has, as six NFL.com analysts got together to pick the fan base that, "Deserves a Super Bowl title," the most and none picked Washington's.

While we won't stand on a table to say fans of this franchise are the singularly most stressed and strained group in the NFL, it certainly deserves to be mentioned upon the top six.

Afterall, this fan base has dealt with nearly a quarter century of mediocre play having witnessed just five winning seasons since Snyder took over in 1999.

Considering the first of them came from a team he inherited, should he even get credit for all three?

The Commanders have also only appeared in eight playoff games under Snyder, and have amazingly dealt with more owner-related scandals than they have enjoyed their team playing in any postseason contests.

Now, don't get us wrong. Some of the ones that were chosen aren't all ridiculously overshadowing the plight of Washington fans worldwide.

Since the Detroit Lions have never won or even played in a Super Bowl we can certainly empathize with their fans and take happiness in seeing that group celebrate being the best in the league for the first time - ever.

And the same goes for the Cincinnati Bengals, who draw a little more support from us after witnessing the emotional reaction of one loyal fan after witnessing his favorite team beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2021 AFC Championship Game, earning themselves a trip to the Super Bowl for the first time in his lifetime.

But the Dallas Cowboys? Of all the NFL franchises and fan bases who deserve pity for Super Bowl droughts, the Cowboys might be one of the least.

So, while the national media continues to feel pity for fans of franchises that make regular playoff appearances, have one of the highest regarded stadiums in the league, and an owner that is thought of as the top billionaire in the club, just know Washington fans that we see you.

And we know the Commanders fan base is one that is certainly deserving of watching their favorite team make a run for the Lombardi Trophy.
