Dak Demands: Cowboys New WR Brandin Cooks Scouts QB Prescott

New Dallas Cowboys receiver Brandin Cooks is settling into life at The Star with his relationship with Dak Prescott getting off to a great start.

New Dallas Cowboys receiver Brandin Cooks is getting his feet underneath him at The Star. After being traded to the Cowboys this offseason from the Houston Texans, Cooks has been getting the work in early and often to prep to start training camp in full flight.

With OTA's finished and minicamp now completed, Cooks is shining a light on Dak Prescott's leadership qualities which has no doubt eased the receiver's transition into the team.

"That's one of the first things that I saw about Dak," Cooks said. "Just the way he naturally leads, I'll follow him into the front line just because when he comes in, doesn't just talk about it, he puts the work in himself as the quarterback. So, I got a lot of respect for him in that aspect because he demands it of himself, not just from us as well."

Cooks has been getting in the work all offseason with Dak and his fellow receivers as he aims to build that chemistry prior to training camp. Often at the "Dak Yard," Cooks and Prescott have already created a solid foundation in the few months of working together.

But while thus far routes have been run against air and with no pads on, Cooks feels good about where he and Dak's relationship sits right now.

"I think it's going pretty well," Cooks said. "We're using this spring to be able to do what we can. Obviously, this summer before camp, continuing to use that time to work together and get on the same page."

On Day 2 of the recent minicamp, Cooks and Prescott's connection was on point as Dak launched a 60-yard bomb which Cooks reeled in for a touchdown.

Cooks is known to have lightning speed - "real speed!'' as an impressed Prescott put it - and the receiver had some choice words for those who didn't necessarily believe he still had that home run speed at his disposal.

"Just gotta give them a little taste," Cook said with a grin. ... and a hint of what is to come at camp when the team reports to Oxnard on July 24.
