Cowboys vs. Detroit Lions Preview: Can Dallas Stay Perfect at Home?

Cowboys vs. Detroit Lions Preview: Can Dallas Stay Perfect at Home With Saturday Night Win?

The Dallas Cowboys host the Detroit Lions on Saturday night in a matchup of two of the best NFC teams. The Cowboys are a perfect 7-0 at AT&T Stadium this season.

Both teams have clinched a playoff spot. The Lions are playing for a chance at the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye, currently sitting in a three-way tie (with Niners, Eagles) for the best record in the NFC. The Cowboys are chasing Philadelphia in the NFC East Division and are looking to halt a two-game losing streak.

The Cowboys defense looks to get after quarterback Jared Goff. Goff and the Lions have gone 6-2 on the road this season, tying the franchise record for most road victories in a singles season since 1961.

In back-to-back wins over the last two weeks, Goff has thrown six touchdowns and no interceptions.

Quarterback Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense have been dominate at home: averaging a league high 39.9 points-per-game at home in 2023. Watch for CeeDee Lamb, who leads the NFL with 109 receptions in 2023 and needs three catches on Saturday to pass Michael Irvin (111 in 1995) for the most receptions in a season in Cowboys history.

The atmosphere should be electric as Jimmy Johnston will be inducted into the Ring of Honor at halftime. Johnson led the Cowboys to two Super Bowls in 1992-93, will be the second head coach in team history inducted into the Ring, along with Tom Landry.

THE FINAL WORD Goff on Micah Parsons, who has 13 sacks this season:

"He's a dangerous player,'' Goff said. "Their advantage with him is that they can move him around ... They do a bunch of stuff with him. ... He can do a hell of a lot and we’ve got to be aware of where he’s at.”
