Ryan Switzer, the NFL wide receiver formerly of the Dallas Cowboys said his infant son Christian is recovering after undergoing surgery in a Boston hospital for a mysterious problem with bleeding.

"Our sweet baby boy is stable and out of surgery," Switzer wrote on social media following the Monday procedure. "This nightmare is over with. These wonderful people in Boston fixed our son.''

Switzer has been updating his son's medical battle on social media since just after March 7, when he and wife Gabie found the baby in his crib, in a pool of his own blood.

Switzer's young son had also tested positive for COVID-19.

On Sunday night, Switzer responded to the thoughts and prayers sent his family's way by fans of the Cowboys, the team that took him in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Switzer, now 26, has since played for the Raiders and the Pittsburgh Steelers and now plays for the Cleveland Browns, but during the course of this "nightmare,'' as he termed it, he wasn't really a football player; he was simply a worried parent.

After a couple of weeks of doctors not quite being able to diagnose the problem, a scan finally revealed an abnormality, possibly related to the baby's intestines, at which time the surgeon working on Christian's case informed the family "they found what they're looking for in order to operate."

"He's going to make a full recovery,'' Switzer wrote after the Monday surgery. "Praise God.''
