Originally from Silver Spring, Maryland. Attended Good Counsel High School and was rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports. Began his college career at the University of Maryland. Decided to redshirt his first year. As a redshirt freshman, he played in all twelve games, totaling thirteen tackles, one interception, and one fumble recovery. During his sophomore season, he played in eleven games, totaling seventy nine tackles, 0.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, and one interception.
