Originally from Caldwell, Idaho. Attended Columbia High School. Began his college career at the University of Hawaii. As a freshman, he played in eleven games and was part of the special teams unit. Transferred to Oregon State University prior to the 2018 season. Decided to redshirt his sophomore year. As a redshirt sophomore, he started in all twelve games, contributing to a very good offensive line. During the shortened 2020 season, he started in all seven games, contributing to an offense that excelled in rushing. As a redshirt junior, he started in all thirteen games and was part of an offensive line that only allowed fourteen sacks, which was the lowest in the Pac-12. During his redshirt senior year, he started in all thirteen games and directly contributed to an outstanding offense.
