Originally from Tampa, Florida. He attended Wesley Chapel High School and was rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports. Began his college career at Florida State University. Decided to redshirt his first season. As a redshirt freshman, he played in all thirteen games, totaling nine tackles and one interception. Also contributed on special teams by serving as a kickoff returner. Transferred to Jackson State University. As a junior, he played in ten games, totaling eight tackles. He was an absolutely dominant kickoff returner, averaging 36.9 yards per return, ranked first in the country, and had two kickoff return touchdowns. During his senior season, he played in thirteen games, totaling forty four tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and one fumble recovery.
