Eagles Sign Former Cowboys QB Will Grier - Details

The Philadelphia Eagles are signing former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Will Grier.

The Philadelphia Eagles have already made some headline-grabbing changes to their quarterback room this offseason, and now they're adding even more depth behind Jalen Hurts.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Eagles are signing former Dallas Cowboys quaterback Will Grier to a deal. Philly confirmed the signing via social media on Saturday.

"Eagles are signing former Cowboys and Patriots QB Will Grier to a one-year deal, per sources. In the past week, the Eagles now have added QBs Kenny Pickett and Greer," Schefter tweeted.

The Eagles acquired quarterback Kenny Pickett via trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers in a somewhat surprising move. Veteran backup Marcus Mariota signed with the Washington Commanders after just one season in Philly, opening up the backup QB spot.

After impressing this past preseason as a rookie, many felt that Tanner McKee might claim this spot prior to the Pickett trade. The pair could certainly battle for reps behind Hurts as the season goes along with Grier likely to sit comfortably on the practice squad as the QB4. Considering the injuries we saw league-wide at quarterback last season, having Grier could eventually pay dividends.

A former third-round pick by the Carolina Panthers in the 2019 draft, Grier has appeared in two games (two starts), but is 0-2 as a starter. He's gone 28 of 52 passing for 228 yards, no touchdowns and four picks.

He most recently got reps last preseason with Dallas, but didn't play in the regular season while sitting behind Dak Prescott and Cooper Rush. Now, Grier could get a chance to at least suit up against his former team this upcoming season if the dominoes fall the right way
