Eagles Coach Nick Sirianni Reveals What He's 'Watching' in Playoff Prep for Buccaneers

The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their stadium earlier this season, and there are things their coach Nick Sirianni is looking to lean on this weekend.

The Philadelphia Eagles come into the NFL Wild Card Round losers of five of their last six games while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a mirrored record in that same stretch.

In Week 3, however, it was the Eagles who had the upper hand on the Buccaneers, as they beat Tampa Bay on Monday, Sept. 25 in their own house.

Philadelphia coach Nick Sirianni re-watched that game and says there are things in that tape he wants to recapture to get a much-needed playoff win.

"When I’m watching that game, which we did watch this morning, I’m watching the different ways to attack them, different things that we had done, and so I’m focused more on that," coach Sirianni said. "That was a good game that we played back in Week 3 against two good teams in the playoffs right now as the four and five seeds. And we know we’re going to have a battle on our hands because I know how much respect I have for this defense and this defensive coordinator, the players that they have on that field and we’re going to have to be on it to accomplish what we want to accomplish."

The players Tampa Bay has on the field are well-known to the Eagles staff at this point. This will be the fourth time in four years that the two face off, although two of those games came in the 2021 NFL Season.

In the three previous contests, the Buccaneers won two, but they also had quarterback Tom Brady leading the way when they did.

Now, as they did in Week 3, this version of the Bucs is led by Baker Mayfield who failed to reach 150 yards throwing and had one pass intercepted while not finding the end zone until there were just over nine minutes left in the game.

Of course, there are questions as to whether or not Philadelphia will have quarterback Jalen Hurts fully healthy or receivers A.J. Brown or DeVonta Smith for that matter as well.

And all of that complicates things for an Eagles team that has had enough complications for one season.

Sirianni might like what he saw on the old Buccaneers tape, but we don't think this is the same team they saw back then, and we know Philadelphia is a whole lot different than that Monday night version from back in September.
