Eagles QB Jalen Hurts Says Philly Didn't Lose Super Bowl vs. Chiefs

Repeating success is all about the right attitude says Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, even in the face of what many view as a failure.

The Philadelphia Eagles lost Super Bowl LVII to the Kansas City Chiefs according to some, probably most.

But according to Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, they didn't lose since losing wasn't one of the possible outcomes to the game.

"After that game, I said, 'You either win or you learn,' and I think people look at failures or things like that as a negative thing," Hurts said according to NFL.com's top takeaways from the first weekend of league training camps. "But it's about how you respond to it."

How Hurts responded was to take the lessons and get ready for an even tougher road to get back to the Super Bowl now that nobody is viewing Philadelphia as the underdog, but the top dog needing to be knocked down a peg.

The result of his efforts to be an even better football player this season was a drop in body fat percentage while carrying the same 220 or so pounds in a more compact and impact-ready package.

"I think (it can be attributed to) conditioning and running and just pushing myself in those areas, and I always find ways to clear up my diet," Hurst said. "I think there's a time in the offseason to really focus on that and then maintain it throughout the year."

Muscles can serve as protection for football players, helping to cushion the daily blows they take on the field as a natural side effect of the job.

And even while he's young, Hurts is aware of the need to protect himself as much as possible, even while he's still relatively capable of absorbing punishment.

It's all aimed at doing one thing though: winning the Eagles another Super Bowl.

Getting back to the game isn't enough, but winning the whole thing, and bringing Lombardi's trophy back to Philadelphia.

"There's a sense of urgency around here," Hurts said. "It's about what we desire and the effort we put in every day. Controlling the things we can, keeping the main thing every day, and attacking it."

It's a good thing for the Eagles that their quarterback is in a fighting mood because the NFL plans to throw everything it can at them this season.

If Philadelphia gets back to the Super Bowl this season, it won't be because Hurts helped his team rebound from loss, rather that he drove it forward off the lessons learned this past February.
