Jalen Carter Vows to 'Kill The Cowboys!' Eagles Media Reacts

In our exclusive interview, Philadelphia Eagles rookie Jalen Carter takes a major shot at the Dallas Cowboys, which resulted in some pleased reactions from Eagles media and fans.

APOPKA, Fla.- The Philadelphia Eagles' long-standing, NFC East division rivalry with the Dallas Cowboys has already made an impression on top-10 pick Jalen Carter.

As the NFL offseason wraps up, Eagles' rookie defensive tackle hosted a youth football camp and provided an exclusive interview with EaglesToday.com at SI. The usually soft-spoken player issued a bold statement to Dallas despite the family-friendly environment.

“I’m ready to kill the Cowboys,” Carter said. “Everybody’s got beef. I might as well join the wave."

Considering the heated rivalry, Eagles fans took a liking to Carter's bold comments despite his rookie status.

"Jalen Carter is officially one of us!" said Philly sports account Edge of Philly Sports on Twitter.

"Jalen Carter knows!" tweeted Eagles YouTuber Thomas R. Petersen.

"When Jalen Carter said he gonna “Kill the Cowboys” and he’s inheriting our beef, I knew he was a lifer!" wrote Joe Castro of Philly Philly The Podcast.

There seemed to be no rookie jitters from Carter as he confidently called out "America’s Team'' ... albeit with a smile. Eagles fans are likely sharing this same smile, and now have more reasons to take a liking to the team's top draft selection before he's even taken his first NFL snap.

Despite his confidence in Philly, Dallas has traditionally had the Eagles' number, but ...

Carter’s confidence may stem from Philadelphia’s success sacking the quarterback last season, as the Eagles became just the fourth team in NFL history to have 70 or more sacks in the regular season. At the same time, to the Cowboys’ credit, they surrendered the fourth-fewest sacks in the league in 2022.

Carter did credit Cowboys Nation for loyalty to the team. But during our visit with him over the weekend, we witnessed him refusing to sign any Dallas merchandise at his kids camp.

“That’s one thing I’ll give Cowboys’ fans: they’re loyal,” Carter said to us as he declined to sign a fan’s phone case featuring the iconic Dallas star.

How the Cowboys and Eagles games play out this season could be telling for the future of the historic rivalry. As it stands, Dallas currently features plenty of prominent NFL stars on defense in Stephon Gilmore, Micah Parsons, and Trevon Diggs, who just signed a massive contract.

However, many consider Carter to be the best defensive player in his draft class. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, even said he'll "become the best defender in the NFL."

Come Nov. 5, when the Cowboys travel to Philly for one of their two annual NFC East meetings, expect the rookie to try making a statement as he experiences the wave of the rivalry in at full force for the first time. Until then, both teams will have to make due by taking out the frustrations of their rivalry at practice now that training camp is in action.
