Philadelphia Eagles Signing DeVonta Smith to Three-Year Extension

Philadelphia's star wide receiver opposite A..J. Brown isn't going anywhere, and the team continued it's march to re-signing some of their long-term players.

The Philadelphia Eagles have made the final piece to their offseason checklist. No one is happier about it than starting quarterback Jalen Hurts.

The organization announced Monday morning that the team and former Heisman Trophy-winning wide receiver DeVonta Smith agreed on a three-year, $75 million extension that keeps the wideout in Philadelphia through the 2028 season. The Eagles also exercised the fifth-year option on Smith so it extends to a four-year deal essentially.

Over $51 million is guaranteed on the deal.

Since being drafted by the team with the 10th overall pick in 2021, Smith has been the most dependable wide receiver in team history. He has caught 240 passes for over 3,000 yards, and 19 touchdowns. His work to stabilize a receiver group that was barren when he walked into the facility helped turn the Eagles into an NFC Power, and helped Hurts become one of the game's brightest quarterbacks.

By agreeing to a new deal, Philadelphia also sets the market for other teams currently negotiating with their top receivers like the Dallas Cowboys with CeeDee Lamb, the Minnesota Vikings with Justin Jefferson, and the Cincinnati Bengals with Ja'Marr Chase.

It also means the Eagles will be able to pair Smith with All-Pro teammate A.J. Brown for the perceived future. All while keeping the organization in good standing with the salary cap.
