Which QBs Will Falcons Watch Workout at Scouting Combine?

As has become in college football's bowl season, some of the top NFL Draft prospects have opted out of participating in the on-field drills at the Scouting Combine.

As the Atlanta Falcons weigh their options at quarterback in the upcoming NFL Draft, they will have a chance to see some of them up close at the NFL Scouting Combine, which kickoffs Thursday with defensive linemen and linebackers. Before, quarterbacks will take the field on Saturday.

Yet, some of the top projected quarterbacks will not participate in the on-field drills in Indianapolis, Indiana, which is a list that includes USC's Caleb Williams and LSU's Jayden Daniels. Others like UNC's Drake Maye, Michigan's JJ McCarthy, Washington's Michael Penix Jr, Oregon's Bo Nix, and South Carolina's Spencer Rattler will be on the field to go through the various drills.

For players like Williams and Daniels, their decision not to work out doesn't mean they won't be in attendance. It has become common over the years for the top prospects to sit out of the Combine's on-field work but still be on hand for interviews with the teams.

For the Falcons, Williams and Daniels may not even be realistic targets in the draft, as both have been projected as top-three draft selections. Williams has been the near-consensus No. 1 pick, while Daniels has risen up the board since completing his Heisman Trophy-winning season.

With the No. 8 overall pick in the draft, the Falcons will likely have to trade up to ensure that they'll have a chance at one of the top signal-callers. This matches up with a recent report that named the Falcons as a possible trade candidate for the New England Patriots, the owners of the No. 3 pick.

With their quarterback position still a major question mark, the Falcons will have a chance to get an up-close look at plenty of prospects.
