And it’s competition from two teams who don’t even have vacancies.
As a result of a flood of gossip being churned out of the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles rumor mill, Falcons owner Arthur Blank may now need to step on the accelerator of urgency when it comes to securing a deal for Belichick.
Or, at least, that’s the impression being created by Belichick and his minions.
The Falcons facing competition from an Eagles team that was in the Super Bowl a year ago? And from a Cowboys team that just assembled three straight 12-5 seasons?.
Yes, coach Nick Sirianni’s Eagles and Coach Mike McCarthy’s Cowboys just got dumped in the playoffs. But they’ve not yet been deemed “safe” in their buildings …
And there sits the 71-year-old vulture Belichick … waiting for his pick?should they fire their current head coaches.
Owner Arthur Blank can offer organizational control of the sort Belichick is used to … and the sort unlikely to be available in Dallas or Philadelphia.
