Bill Belichick will no longer be the head coach of the New England Patriots, with a Thursday press conference scheduled to allow him to say his goodbyes after 24 years and six Super Bowl titles there.
How soon might he say "hello" to Atlanta?
It is no secret that the Falcons have interest in Belichick for their head coaching vacancy as they launch a search for a replacement for the fired Arthur Smith.

It has also been whispered by Belichick cronies that he/they view Bill in Atlanta as a "good fit."
And here come national media members openly making the connection now.
From NFL Network's Ian Rapoport: "For Belichick, Falcons may be an option."
From The Athletic's Diana Russini: "The Atlanta Falcons have been interested in landing Bill Belichick for weeks, per sources."
And this take, citing a history around here that suggests a "big swing."
"Falcons owner Arthur Blank has taken some big swings at other high-profile head coaches in the past," ESPN's Adam Schefter said. "Blank once pursued, but didn’t land, Joe Gibbs. He once pursued, but didn’t land, Bill Parcells. Now the Falcons have a head coach opening, and Bill Belichick is a free agent."
If Belichick comes to Atlanta? The No. 1 task is about the front office. Does he run it all as has been the case in Foxboro? After that comes a decision on the roster, led by what to do to fix the quarterback position. (Tom Brady ain't walkin' through that locker room door.)
Is Belichick the best candidate? That's debatable.
Is he the best "big swing" available? That much is so.
