Giants Shut Out on 2024 Comp Draft Picks Distribution

Thanks to their 2023 free agency activity, the Giants did not get any mandatory picks in this year's draft.

The NFL announced 34 compensatory draft picks to be distributed among 14 qualified teams, none of which are the New York Giants.

Comp picks, which fall within the third through seventh rounds of the draft, are based on several factors, such as whether a team loses more or better compensatory free agents (“CFA”) than it acquired in the previous year. The round of the pick is determined based on a formula based on salary, playing time, and postseason honors.

Last year, the Giants lost Julian Love and Nick Gates, each of whom would have brought an extra sixth-round pick. However, the signings of defensive lineman A'Shawn Robinson and receiver Parris Campbell canceled that out.

The Giants' signings of linebacker Bobby Okereke and defensive lineman Rakeem Nunez-Roches also tipped the scales against the Giants getting comp picks.

Non-CFAs saw the Giants lose offensive lineman Jon Feliciano but sign receiver Jamison Crowder.

The Philadelphia Eagles were awarded four comp picks: a third-rounder, two fifth-rounders, and a sixth-rounder (Nos. 97, 170, 171, and 210). The Dallas Cowboys received two comp picks: a fifth-rounder (No. 173) and a sixth-rounder (No. 216). And the New York Jets, the Giants' MetLife Stadium neighbors, received an extra sixth-rounder and two extra seventh-rounders (Nos. 218, 256, and 257).
