EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. --The New York Giants' frustrations continued on Monday night as they fell to the Cowboys 37-18 at MetLife Stadium.

Although the Giants were able to move the ball into the Cowboys' red zone five times, they settled for four field goals while only scoring one touchdown on a Daniel Jones one-yard touchdown pass to Cody Latimer.

After the Giants jumped out to an early 12-3 lead, a black cat emerged on the field with five minutes left in the first half. From then on, the Giants' luck seemed to head south, as Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott found tight end Blake Jarwin on a broken play for a 42-yard catch and run to put the Cowboys within two points.

Jones then threw a ball into double coverage with 40 seconds left in the half, which was picked off by Xavier Woods. This led to a Brett Maher field goal to put the Cowboys ahead 13-12 at halftime after they scored 10 points in 52 seconds.

After exchanging punts to start the second half, Jones committed his first fumble of the game when trying to pick up the first down. The Cowboys would then put together a seven-play, 39-yard drive ending in a field goal to extend their lead to 16-12.

The Giants responded with a field goal to make it 16-15 after again failing to capitalize in the red zone.

The Cowboys offense, which had started shaky, settled in and began to pile it on. Prescott found Michael Gallup on the sideline for a 15-yard touchdown and a 23-15 lead.

Despite being a non-factor for the majority of the night (14 carries 28 yards), Saquon Barkley broke out on the first play of the Giants' next drive by ripping off a 65-yard reception on a screen, the longest reception of his career.

But again, the Giants couldn't capitalize on the big play that set them up within striking distance of the end zone and had to settle for another field goal, which made it 23-18.

On the Cowboys' next possession, the Giants forced a 3rd-and-7. Prescott tried to connect with Michael Gallup, but rookie cornerback DeAndre Baker, who also struggled against the Cowboys in Week 1, was called for pass interference.

With the Cowboys given a fresh set of downs, Prescott connected with Amari Cooper on a 45-yard touchdown, which put the Cowboys ahead 30-18 with eight minutes to go.

The Giants were unable to fight back as their final two offensive drives resulted in a punt and a strip-sack of Jones returned for a touchdown.

Jones finished 26-of-41 for 210 yards, with one touchdown, one interception, and two fumbles.

With three more turnovers on the night, Jones is tied for the league lead with 16-giveaways on the season, the Cowboys scoring 13 points off Jones' three turnovers.

Prescott finished 22-of-35 for 257 yards with three touchdowns and an interception in leading the Cowboys to their fifth straight win over the Giants.

Ezekiel Elliot and the Cowboys, who came into this contest with the fourth-best rush offense in the league (146.4 yards per game), ran wild against the Giants. Dallas finished with 172 yards on the ground, 139 of which were gained by Elliott on 23 carries.

New Giants defensive lineman Leonard Williams had a relatively quiet night. He recorded two tackles and two quarterback hits and just missed a sack against Prescott.

Safety Antoine Bethea recorded two turnovers, which led to 10 of the Giants' 18 points. The 35-year-old veteran snatched his 25th career interception off a Prescott pass on the first play of the game to set up the first of the Giants' four field goals on the night.

The Giants' other takeaway came in the second quarter when safety Jabrill Peppers forced a fumble on Randall Cobb, which Bethea recovered. That turnover led to the Giants' lone touchdown.
