Giants Sign LB Matthew Adams

The Giants continue to add veterans to help their special teams units.

The New York Giants have signed linebacker Matthew Adams, adding depth to their outside linebacker group and, perhaps more significantly, their special teams units.

Adams, 6-0 and 230 pounds, was originally selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the seventh round of the 2018 draft after finishing his college career at the University of Houston, where he was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.

He played four seasons for the Colts, appearing in 58 games with nine starts and recording 55 tackles. After his four-year stint with the Colts, Adams spent one year each with the Chicago Bears and, most recently, the Cleveland Browns.

The 28-year-old Adams' career totals include 98 tackles, eight tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. In addition to his play on defense, he was a core special teams player, having participated in 435 special team snaps last season for the Browns, in which he forced a fumble against the Jets in Week 17.

Adams finished the 2023 season as the Browns' special teams tackle leader, having recorded a career-high ten special teams tackles (seven solo) and the aforementioned forced fumble.
