Giants Add RB Devin Singletary to Offense

Singletary has ties to Giants head coach Brian Daboll from their days in Buffalo.

After losing running back Saquon Barkley to the Philadelphia Eagles on a three-year deal worth up to $46.75M with $26 million guaranteed, the New York Giants quickly shifted focus and signed former Bills and Texans running back Devin Singletary to a three-year, $16.5M deal worth up to $19.5M with incentives, a max APY of $6.5 million.

Singletary, 26 years old, had 898 rushing yards on 216 attempts and four touchdowns, averaging 4.2 yards per carry. He also added 30 catches for 193 yards, bringing his total to over 1,000 scrimmage yards in 2023.

He has been consistent throughout his career, having over 1,000 yards from scrimmage in the last three seasons. Another intriguing part of Singletary’s career is that he’s been able to stay healthy, playing at least 16 games per season since 2020.

Singletary played under Daboll in Buffalo for three seasons when the Giant's head coach was the Bills offensive coordinator. Current general manager Joe Schoen is also very familiar with the running back, having scouted him before the Bills drafted Signletary in the third round of the 2019 draft.

Singletary had solid numbers for the Bills, rushing for 3,151 yards and 16 touchdowns while averaging 4.7 yards per carry over four seasons. He's a shorter back, standing at 5-foot-7 and 203 pounds, but that hasn’t stopped him from being a productive and healthy ball carrier throughout his career.

The Giants are gravitating toward a committee in the backfield for 2024 and beyond and could also consider adding to the position in the draft.
