Former Giants OLB Coach Lands in New England

Drew Wilkins will reportedly join New England head coach Jerod Mayo's staff rather than following Wink Martindale to Michigan.

Former New York Giants outside linebackers coach Drew Wilkins, who was dismissed from his duties by head coach Brian Daboll at the end of the 2023 season, will be joining New England head coach Jerod Mayo's staff in the same role, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported.

The move is semi-surprising as it was thought Wilkins and his brother Kevin, both of whom had been on Martindale's defensive staffs with the Baltimore Ravens and the Giants, would continue as a trio, especially after Martindale reportedly resigned his post with the Giants in a huff due to head coach Brian Daboll's decision to relieve both Wilkins brothers from the team's coaching staff.

Martindale, who drew some interest around the league for defensive coordinator vacancies--he was linked to the Jacksonville, Green Bay, and Dallas jobs, was hired last week as the defensive coordinator at the Univerity of Michigan.

Wilkins meanwhile reunites with Patriots outside linebacker Matt Judon, who made two Pro Bowls during his time with Wilkins in Baltimore.
