Micah Parsons Questions Giants' Decision to Keep Daniel Jones in Blowout Game

Jones remained in a lost cause of a game until about 90 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Like many others who watched Sunday night's debacle between the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys, Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons questioned why Giants head coach Brian Daboll insisted on keeping quarterback Daniel Jones in the game well after the score spiraled out of control.

That question was put to Giants head coach Brian Daboll after the game. Daboll, who kept Jones in the contest until the final 90 seconds, told reporters that the reason was to "try to get something positive going there."

Instead, Jones continued to take a beating, absorbing three sacks on the final series and hit after hit as he ran for his life behind a shoddy offensive line. The Giants were fortunate that Jones wasn't injured.

On his podcast, "The Edge with Micah Parsons," Parsons found the decision to be a headscratcher as well.

“I don’t think Daniel Jones should have been in that game in the fourth quarter. I thought they should have protected him and pulled him out--their season would be over without Daniel Jones," Parsons said.

"The Bengals did the smart decision by pulling Joe Burrow, saying, ‘Hey, we’re going to submit, we’re going to take our loss, and we’re going to move onto next week and get better.’ That’s the best thing you can do."

Although Parsons, who had a sack against the Giants, and the Cowboys benefitted from the Giants' Swiss cheese pass protection, he felt very strongly that the Giants did Jones wrong.

“I do not agree with Daniel Jones staying out there until that last drive," he said. "I thought that was wrong. I thought that was deceiving. That’s your franchise quarterback, and he’s still out there with the backup offensive line, still getting sacked and hit. I just didn’t understand it. Maybe it was a prove-it moment by the Giants, I have no idea, a learning lesson, who knows?"
