The Jaguars joined in with the rest of the NFL on Sunday in carefully watching the waiver wire, adding four players to their offense and specials teams units. In total the Jaguars were awarded running back Devin Ozigbo, running back/returner Tyler Ervin, tight end Seth DeValve and tight end/long snapper Matt Orzech.

Due to the four additions to the roster, the Jaguars had to shift four players off of their 53-man roster. According to multiple reports, the team cut defensive tackle Eli Ankou, tight end Ben Koyack and long snapper Matt Overton.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Jaguars also placed running back Alfred Blue on injured reserve, ending his season.

None of these are particularly surprising moves. Blue started training camp as the clear cut No. 2 running back behind Leonard Fournette, but injuries have kept him off of the field for the last several weeks. Ozigbo is an upgrade as a pass-catcher, as well.

Koyack made the roster due to his experience with the team, but he lacks the dynamic pass-catching ability of DeValve.

Ankou was cut instead of rookie defensive tackle Dontavius Russell, since it was clear the team did not need to carry four nose tackles. Ervin will take his roster spot and will likely serve primarily as a returner, while also filling in as the No. 4 running back.

Overton was cut in favor of Orzech after spending two seasons with the team. He is likely the most surprising cut since he did not have any competition during camp.
