New York Jets Select Offensive Depth In Day Three NFL Mock Draft

The New York Jets have five picks on the final day of the 2024 NFL Draft, including the most irrelevant selection of the draft.

The New York Jets are expected to make five selections on Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft, which includes the final four rounds.

The Jets have two fourth-round picks, a sixth-round pick and two seventh-round picks. The last pick is the famed “Mr. Irrelevant” selection, which is the last pick of the draft. The San Francisco 49ers got lucky there with quarterback Brock Purdy a few drafts ago.

Recently the The Athletic took a shot at an entire seven-round mock draft and this is what the Jets’ third day looked like:

Fourth Round (No. 111): WR Malik Washington, Virginia

Fourth Round (No. 134): DL Gabe Hall, Baylor

Sixth Round (No. 185): QB Devin Leary, Kentucky

Seventh Round (No. 256): G/C C.J. Hanson, Holy Cross

Seventh Round (No. 257): RB Dillon Johnson, Washington

It’s a third day heavy on offensive help, as only Hall plays defense.

Washington is a 5-foot-8, 194-pound receiver who played at Northwestern before transferring to Virginia for the 2023 season. With the Cavaliers he caught an incredible 110 passes with 1,426 yards and nine touchdowns. He fits the profile of a slot receiver and he can also return kickoffs. He made a splash at the Senior Bowl.

Hall, 6-foot-6 and 287 pounds, is a five-year college football vet who managed 18 tackles and two sacks in his final season with the Bears.

Leary could be a developmental prospect as the Jets must cultivate and eventually replace Aaron Rodgers. The 24-year-old played most of his five-year college career with NC State but transferred to Kentucky for his final season. With the Wildcats he threw for 2,746 yards, 25 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

In 2021 with NC State he threw for 3,433 yards, 35 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Hanson went to FCS power Holy Cross but at 6-foot-6, 304 pounds, he can be developed as a guard or tackle. He was an All-American and All-Patriot League selection with the Crusaders.

Johnson, in this mock, is Mr. Irrelevant. Johnson, 6-foot, 218 pounds, rushed for 1,195 yards and 16 touchdowns as he helped the Huskies reach the national championship game against Michigan. His final season of college football was the best of his four-year career.

The NFL Draft is set to start on April 25 in Detroit.
