Report: Lions Fire DB Coach Aubrey Pleasant

The Detroit Lions secondary has been in shambles the last month of the 2022 NFL season.

The Detroit Lions have made a shakeup to their coaching staff after a poor defensive performance against the Miami Dolphins.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the Lions have made the decision to part ways with defensive backs coach Aubrey Pleasant.

One day removed from head coach Dan Campbell expressing the team could not execute their game plan to limit wideouts Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, a member of the coaching staff has been dismissed.

“First thing is don’t let the ball go over our head. I mean, knowing those two receivers, I think they’re both 4.2 runners or what not, so that’s the first thing. The second thing is the catch-and-run that creates explosive plays for those guys," defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn said last week. "We have to be able to rally and create population to the ball. We have to tackle really, really well, something that I do think we’ve improved on also."

Following the loss, Campbell indicated the team was unable to execute the game plan, as both wideouts were able to gash Detroit's defense repeatedly.

"Yeah we didn’t hit them," Campbell expressed. "We didn’t hit them at the line. That was part of the game plan. We didn’t disrupt. We did not disrupt, and when you let them do that and get into your defense, we didn’t want to turn it into a track meet. And it was a track meet. Shoot man, (they) were what? 300 yards of offense? I don’t know, somewhere in there, a little over 300. It’s tough.”
