Lions Sign OL Germain Ifedi

The Lions added veteran insurance to their offensive line.

The Detroit Lions have added a veteran presence to their offensive line, signing Germain Ifedi, according to NFL Network.

Ifedi is entering his eighth professional season and was most recently with the Atlanta Falcons. In 2022, he played in all 17 games predominately as a blocker on special teams.

He's a versatile player, having experience at both the guard and tackle positions. Per Pro Football Focus, he recorded just eight offensive snaps as a Falcon

Previously in his career, he played two seasons with the Chicago Bears and four with the Seattle Seahawks. He began his career in Seattle after being drafted in the first round, 31st overall, in the 2016 draft.

Over his seven pro campaigns, he has played in 102 games with 83 starts. He began his career as a guard before making the switch to tackle.

He joins a talented offensive line that is among the best young position groups in the league. At tackle, the team boasts two quality starters in Taylor Decker and Penei Sewell.

Detroit made an addition to its line in the 2023 NFL Draft when it selected Colby Sorsdal in the fifth round. A tackle in college at William & Mary, the rookie is expected to play guard as a pro.

Currently, the Lions are in the midst of the third phase of the NFL offseason. Ifedi is the second lineman signed in as many days, as Max Pircher was signed Monday as part of the league's International Player Pathway program.

The Lions also signed first-round pick Jack Campbell Tuesday.

Organized Team Activities began Tuesday for the Lions. Mandatory minicamp runs June 6-8.
